The experts of Karun Petrochemical Co. have produced a new product of modified MDI which its commercial name is LMDI B and was supplied to the market.This kind of MDI special grade is essential in producing  of   ester-based and ether-based polyurethanes.

With the production of this MDI grade, the value chain of prepolymers was completed for the first time in the Middle East.According to the public relations department of  Karun Petrochemical Co. , LMDI grade was imported from abroad , meanwhile midstream producers of polyurethanes got into troubles in its providing , but at the present time its domestic production save s about $300 million annually for the country through reducing reliance on import of isocyanates.LMDI product applications include (cumin shoes, flooring, adhesives and sealants, elastomers, coatings,.).

Isocyanates are a family of highly reactive, low molecular weight chemicals widely used in the manufacturing of flexible and rigid foams, cumin shoes, fibers, flooring, adhesives and sealants, elastomers, and coatings. They are increasingly used in the auto-industry such as car bumper, tires, and building insulation materials such as recreational goods, mechanical goods, etc.

LMDI B grade Produced in Karun Petrochemical Co. , is equal with  Isonate 143L Grade Dow America, Lupranat MM103 grade BASF Germany, Wannate CDMDI 100 grade Wanhua China, Desmodur CD-S grade of Covestro Germany and grade Suprasec 9561 Huntsman America.

This product is considered as a polycarbodiamide category and is known as modified methylen diphenyl diisocyanate . This product has low viscosity and is liquid at room temperature.This product has more flexibility than raw isocyanides. The polycarbamide chain helps stabilize the polymer against hydrolytic degradation.Since this product can be used alone or in combination with prepolymers, its higher performance will improve the demolding time compared to conventional linear prepolymers.The unique combination of modified MDI content, available carbodiimide and its liquid formulation make it easy to transport, ease the processing and maintenance of high physical properties in difficult weather c and environmental conditions.It should be noted that the Karun Petrochemical Co. is the first and only  producer of isocyanates in the Middle East with a nominal capacity of 80,000 tons of isocyanate ( toluene diisocyanate (TDI) and  diphenyl diisocyanate (MDI)) which is located in Bandar Imam Khomeini's Petrochemical Complex .
